Lasse Joamets

Lasse Joamets is an Estonian violinist born in Tartu in 1973. He began studying the violin at the age of six. In the autumn of 1985, he entered the Tallinn Music High School, graduating in 1991. He then continued his studies at the Estonian Academy of Music in Mari Tamper’s violin class, graduating in 1996.

Joamets began his professional career at the age of 20, when he joined the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra as a member of the second violin section. He was soon appointed second concertmaster. At the same time, he began working with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.

From 1997 to 2010, Lasse Joamets was concertmaster of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra. Since January 2011, he has been concertmaster of Oulu Sinfonia.

Over the years, Joamets has also regularly appeared as a guest concertmaster with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Neeme Järvi, Olari Elts and Gennady Rozhdestvensky.

Chamber music has played an important role in Lasse Joamets’ artistic career. He has performed in various chamber ensembles, most frequently together with his brother, pianist Tanel Joamets. The brothers prepare approximately two new concert projects each year. Joamets also has an interest in lighter styles of music and has performed with both country and jazz ensembles. His involvement in jazz has been an important part of his professional musical career.

As a soloist, Lasse Joamets has performed in China and Japan, as well as in various European countries. He has collaborated with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, the Estonian Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, Lapland Chamber Orchestra and Oulu Sinfonia. At Oulu Sinfonia concerts, he has appeared both as a soloist and chamber musician.

In February 2008, Joamets received the Osuuspank Helmi Award in recognition of his contribution to the cultural life of Lapland.
